Desperate, Determined, Delighted!

When I posted my recent ‘GoApe Tarzan Swing’ video, I received two very distinct types of response.  The first type went along the lines of: “Goodness (or words to that effect!) Sharon, why get so worked up and upset and take so long over such a small thing?!  Was that it - a small swing onto a cargo net? "I know walking's good for me... but I hate it!" So ended the brief conversation some seven years ago with a friend of mine who was trying to persuade me to go on another embarrassing ‘short’ walk with the aim of ‘making me feel better and get fitter’. Week 8 – Blood Sugar Diet

  Day 56 (Sun 10th July 2016) is finally here.  I celebrated this morning with a slap up breakfast cooked by my little brother Ian!  It’s been a long old eight weeks, but I have learnt things, lost weight, lost body fat and improved my blood sugar levels and food cravings.     So here are the stats: Total weight loss 7.4kgs (16.3lbs) Total body fat loss 4.9% (using bioimpedence scales) Total visceral fat loss 1.5% (using bioimpedence scales) Awaiting my HbA1c blood results… but daily readings have been more stable Food cravings…continue reading →

Writing a weekly blog (Week 7 ended on Sun 3rd July 2016) provides the dilemma of what to put in. Week 6 – Blood Sugar Diet

Woah!  What a difference a week (ending Sun 26th June) makes.  Totally impressed with myself this week: lost 2.8kgs (that's 6.2lbs in old money!).  I step off the scales and get on again: same result!  Amazed and chuffed. Week 5 – Blood Sugar Diet

Hmm... a tough week (ending Sun 19th June).  Slipped off the wagon.  Put on a couple of lbs this week. The key, as always, is to see this as a 'lapse', not a total 'relapse'.  Just because you have a blip, it doesn't mean that the whole day / week / diet is blown.  That's the classic Catastrophic all-or-nothing way of thinking. Week 4 – Blood Sugar Diet

Ye-ha!  I’ve reached the halfway point on the Blood Sugar Diet.  My hormones have settled back down again; my step-count is continuing to build; my resistance exercises and HIT training are going well… I’ve lost another 3.5lbs AND dropped a dress size!!! My weight loss has slowed down this week as I’ve ‘only’ lost 0.6kg (1.3lbs) – I’m blaming my female hormones!  I’ve been busy at work, and have also had my sister-in-law to stay with me for a few days – which has been the lovely bit of my week, as we’ve been out hiking together in the Peak District in a bid to increase my weekly step count. Week 2 – Blood Sugar Diet

So, I’ve made it to the end of Week 2 (29th May 2016) on the BSD – still not killed anyone – and this week I’ve lost 4.5lbs, taking my total to 11lbs (5kgs).  It’s not as much as some others on the BSD website have reported, but I’m very pleased with my results so far. So… today (Sun 22nd May 2016) brings me to the end of my first week on Dr Michael Mosley’s ‘8-week blood sugar diet’ - and I’m pleased to report this past week I’ve lost 3.0kgs (6.6lbs).
